Race Day Runner Info

bc ferries

we love dogs, not everyone does

If you know our crew, you know we love dogs! But to make sure everyone has an enjoyable experience, please keep your dogs on a lead at the start/finish area. If your dog is sensitive to loud noises, children, crowds and other dogs, perhaps it's best they sit this one out, or support runners in the forest!

While we would love a dog podium, dog's will not be allowed to run in the race. This is to ensure the safety of all runners.

SUNSHINE COAST SEARCH AND RESCUE

chip timing //
wear your bib on the front

Your timing will be activated from a chip on your race bib. It is critical that you do not bend your chip and that you wear your bib fully visible on the front of your body to ensure you have a finish time.

aid stations // drop bags & crew

mandatory gear // cupless event

50K
The 50k race will have 4 well stocked aid stations, plus one water only (weather permitting) station.

Drop bags available at midway aid station.

25K
The 25k race will have 2 well stocked aid stations.

Crew access available at some aid stations (more info to come)!

What will the aid stations have?
Precision Fuel and Hydration products and drink mix. There will also be a selection of savoury snacks and candies, as well as water.

A foldable cup, or flask, or bladder is MANDATORY for the 50km and 25km. One of our greatest priority is that we leave the trails better than we found them, this includes reducing waste as best we all can! For that reason we ask that you bring your own foldable cups or refill your flasks and bladders at aid stations.

Here's an example of something you could look at getting - https://hydrapak.com/products/speed-cup-200-ml?variant=31224137875546 or head straight to Sunny Running Co. in Gibsons to see what they have.

you must have the route with you

We do our utmost to make sure the trails are well marked and that intersections are clear. However, you are sharing the trails with trail users. It is possible that between the race start and finish someone has tampered with the route markers. You must have the route on you. Head to your race pages to get your hands on the GPX and/or Strava route. Use your phone, gps watch or a map and compass if need be.

cut off times

active trails and roads

Please note, you are sharing the trails with trail users (including wildlife), and you are sharing the FSRs with cars. Be observant, respectful and considerate of those you share the trails with.

music

Music makes us feel alive! We ask that you use one earbud or bone conducting headphones so that you are able to remain aware of your surroundings. The trails and FSRs are shared by many users, this rule is to ensure everyone's safety.

porto toilets

We have them! Please use them!
Please avoid pooping in the forest.

kiddo's race

If you're coming from anywhere other than the lower Sunshine Coast, you'll probably be relying on BC Ferries. Please make yourself familiar with the schedule and plan accordingly. 50K runners will have to be on the Sunshine Coast on Friday as the first ferry leaves too late to make the start. 25K runners are able to catch the first ferry across to make the start, if you don't have a reservation, we suggest being at the ferry terminal 2-3 hours before the sailing. However we do strongly recommend arriving on the Coast on Friday!

Sailing route: Vancouver (Horseshoe Bay) to Sunshine Coast (Langdale).

50K

Mid way aid station: 6 hours (1pm)
Last aid station: 9 hours (4pm)
Finish: 11 hours (6pm)

25K

Finish: 6.5 hours (4pm)

The Kiddo's run will be taking place from 13:00. Please note, there will be no prize categories or podiums due to the large range of ages running, this is purely for fun and community!
Kids can "register" and get their bib on the day!
