Crew Info

bc ferries

If you're coming from anywhere other than the lower Sunshine Coast, you'll probably be relying on BC Ferries. Please make yourself familiar with the schedule and plan accordingly. 50K runners will have to be on the Sunshine Coast on Friday as the first ferry leaves too late to make the start. 25K runners are able to catch the first ferry across to make the start, if you don't have a reservation, we suggest being at the ferry terminal 2-3 hours before the sailing. However we do strongly recommend arriving on the Coast on Friday!

Sailing route: Vancouver (Horseshoe Bay) to Sunshine Coast (Langdale).

we love dogs, not everyone does

If you know our crew, you know we love dogs! But to make sure everyone has an enjoyable experience, please keep your dogs on a lead at the start/finish area. If your dog is sensitive to loud noises, children, crowds and other dogs, perhaps it's best they sit this one out, or support runners in the forest!

While we would love a dog podium, dog's will not be allowed to run in the race. This is to ensure the safety of all runners.

SUNSHINE COAST SEARCH AND RESCUE

Sunshine Coast Search and Rescue is a volunteer organization responding to land search and rescue emergencies across the lower Sunshine Coast of British Columbia.

Up The Creek will be donating proceeds to Sunshine Coast Search and Rescue to help support the incredible work they do to keep our community and local lands safe.

active trails and roads

Please note, you are sharing the trails with trail users (including wildlife), and you are sharing the FSRs with cars. Be observant, respectful and considerate of those you share the trails with.

mandatory gear // cupless event

50KM runners are required to start the race with a headlamp. Sunrise is at 7:20am, so the forest will be dark for most of the first hour. Runners who expect to be close to the overall cut off (6pm) should be prepared to use a headlamp as sunset is at 7pm.

A foldable cup, or flask, or bladder is MANDATORY for the 50KM and 25km. One of our greatest priorities is that we leave the trails better than we found them, this includes reducing waste as best we all can! For that reason we ask that you bring your own foldable cups or refill your flasks and bladders at aid stations.

Here's an example of something you could look at getting - https://hydrapak.com/products/speed-cup-200-ml?variant=31224137875546 or head straight to Sunny Running Co. in Gibsons to see what they have.
